After School Program Group Leader

POSITION SCOPE:

The CCBA’s After School Program carries out a state licensed quality program for up to 60 children in kindergarten through sixth grade.
 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Must be at least 17 years of age and have ONE of the following:

• Experience working with school-age children, totaling 600 hours;

• Documentation of at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreation, or other field of study focused on children, awarded by an accredited college or university;

• Documentation that she or he is a certified coach;

• Documentation of 5 years of parenting experience; or

• Documentation from or on file with the department that she or he was qualified and employed as a group leader in a school-age program on or before the adoption of these rules in 2022.
 

ABILITY TO:

• Work effectively with students of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

• Learn and become certified in CPR/AED/First Aid. Training is provided. Assists in managing responses to first aid emergencies and is a First Aid Team member, as described in the "CCBA EXPOSURE CONTROL PLAN."

• Supervise students to ensure their health and safety.

• Follow directions and function within program policies and procedures.

• Participate in required staff training and professional development opportunities.

• Work effectively with students in after school activities and assist with behavior management, discipline, interpersonal actions, and act as a role model.

• Help mentor students in a variety of learning and life experiences.

• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding the child’s day.

• Maintain current medical health form. A health form must be on file within 60 days of hire date. Screening must have been conducted within 12 months of date of hire and renewed every three years.

• Agree to be fingerprinted for FBI and state criminal background checks.

• Work is conducted indoors and outside. Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb and reach. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift and carry items (up to 20 lbs) and be able to communicate verbally with good voice projection.

• Perform related duties as assigned by the After School Program Site Director(s).
