Bradford, VT | Full-Time | Starting at $21/hour (pay commensurate with experience)
Earn an additional $1/hour for Saturday and Sunday shifts
Earn an additional $1/hour on company-observed holidays — plus holiday pay if you work the holiday (double pay!)

As an Independent Living Specialist, you will work directly with residents in our Independent Living Program (ILP), supporting activities of daily living, treatment goals, and community integration in a trauma-informed, respectful, and empowering environment.

What You’ll Do as an Independent Living Specialist

  • Provide person-centered, trauma-informed support that promotes independence, dignity, and self-sufficiency.
  • Support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, laundry, nutrition, and household responsibilities.
  • Assist residents in working toward individualized treatment and life goals through regular engagement and skill-building.
  • Facilitate and participate in individual and group activities focused on independent living skills, social connection, and community involvement.
  • Support community-based experiences aligned with resident interests, such as vocational, educational, recreational, and social opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and interdisciplinary team to ensure treatment plans are current and effectively implemented.
  • Provide transportation to appointments and community activities as assigned.
  • Supervise residents’ self-administration of medication in accordance with training, policies, and regulations.
  • Respond to emergencies or crises within the scope of training and established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record and required systems.
  • Support a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment through regular apartment checks and coordination with Facilities.
  • Communicate resident needs, concerns, and progress to the Program Manager in a timely and professional manner.

Schedule Details
  • Full-time position
  • May include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on program needs.
  • Flexibility required to support emergency or unforeseen staffing needs.
  • Travel between locations and occasional overnight training may be required.
What You Need to Join Our Team
Required Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a human services or related direct care setting
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience in direct care or working with adults with mental health needs.
  • Education in a human service–related field
  • Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and person-centered care
  • Demonstrated ability to actively engage individuals in treatment and independent living goals.
