UPPER VALLEY AQUATIC CENTER TO HOST FREE LESSONS ACROSS THREE LOCATIONS FOR THE 17TH ANNUAL WORLD’S LARGEST SWIMMING LESSON™

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT – May 19, 2026 — The Upper Valley Aquatic Center (UVAC) is proud to announce its official participation in the 17th Annual World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL) on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Local families are invited to take part in this massive, global water safety event, which UVAC is expanding this year across three regional locations in Vermont and New Hampshire. The lessons are completely free for children, though advance registration is required.

The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ was created in 2010 by the World Waterpark Association to serve as a crucial platform to help local aquatic facilities and water safety organizations work together to prevent childhood drowning. Drowning remains the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-14. On June 25, waterparks, pools, and aquatic centers worldwide will unite to build urgent awareness about the vital importance of teaching children to swim, proving that Swimming Lessons Save Lives™.

"We are thrilled to bring this life-saving event to three different communities this year," said Joe Major, Executive Director of the Upper Valley Aquatic Center. "By offering these free lessons, our goal is not only to provide a fun, memorable day for families, but also to equip local children with the fundamental water skills they need to stay safe as they head into the summer season."

The free, 30-minute lessons will take place on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the following locations and times:

  • Upper Valley Aquatic Center (White River Junction, VT)
    • 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM
  • Colby-Sawyer College (New London, NH)
    • 4:00 PM – 4:30 PM
    • 4:30 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Claremont Savings Bank Community Center (Claremont, NH)
    • 4:00 PM – 4:30 PM
    • 4:45 PM – 5:15 PM

While participation is entirely free for all children, space is limited at each location, and pre-registration is strictly required. Parents and guardians can secure their child’s spot today by visiting the UVAC Registration Portal.
