Upper Valley Aquatic Center Partners with Global Leaders to Bring Advanced Adaptive Swim Training and Free Safety Lessons to the Upper Valley WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT – (May 14, 2026) – On Saturday, June 6, the Upper Valley Aquatic Center (UVAC) will become a hub for inclusive water safety, hosting a dual-event day designed to empower both swim professionals and local families. The day features an advanced professional workshop led by the founders of Swim Angelfish®, followed by free adaptive swim safety sessions for children with Autism, ADHD, and other sensory needs. Drowning remains a leading cause of accidental death for children with special needs. To combat this, UVAC is bringing in Cindy Freedman (Occupational Therapist) and Aileen Tisser (Physical Therapist), founders of the world-renowned Swim Whisperers® methodology, to lead an intensive In-Water Workshop from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This session is designed for swim instructors that have completed completed Swim Whisperers Level 1 training wanting to practice their adaptive skills, and will enable participants to master their teaching techniques for students with special needs. “We believe that by providing specifically trained instructors for the special needs population, we can significantly reduce drowning statistics,” says the Swim Angelfish team. Following the professional training, UVAC will open its doors to the community for a FREE Adaptive Swim Safety Event from 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM. Recognizing that every child has different sensory profiles, the event offers two distinct sessions: “Every child deserves to feel safe and confident in the water,” said Kana Wyman, UVAC Swim School Director. “By hosting these events, we are not only leveling up the skills of our regional instructors but providing a supportive environment where local children can learn life-saving skills tailored to their unique needs.” Space is limited for both the professional workshop and the community safety event. Registration is required.
