Prevention and Education Program Educator

Position Overview: The WISE Prevention and Education Program (PEP) facilitates programming to end gender-based violence across the Upper Valley of NH/VT. WISE has provided evidence-based prevention programming in schools for over twenty years. Our education grounded in a feminist and public health informed theory of change that invites every person to join us in ending violence.

Hours: Full-time, exempt and salaried position. Core hours are Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm and as needed for presentation schedules. Some early morning, evening and weekend hours required.

Reports to: Program Director

Location: This position is based in the WISE Program Center in Lebanon, NH

Position Description: The Educator is part of the Youth Violence Prevention and Prevention Education Program Team and works with students, educators, and parents in 10 school districts to provide effective prevention education, student leadership to end violence, and youth advocacy for survivors.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement WISE’s Youth Violence Prevention curriculum with school-aged youth, parents, and education professionals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships to facilitate collaboration on curriculum, policies, and school response to survivors.
  • Develop and refine activities based on evaluation and research to support comprehensive prevention.
  • Identify areas of opportunity to increase WISE recognition and access, especially among youth.
  • Collect and analyze data from trainings to assess fidelity, efficacy and to inform strategic development.
  • Create and support the development of passive programming for youth including in WISE’s online presence and written materials.
  • Attend community, coalition, staff, and/or Board meetings, trainings and/or conferences as requested by the Program Director and Executive Director.
  • Participate in the strategic and annual planning processes of WISE.
  • Perform other duties for the overall functioning of the organization and as requested by the Program Director and Executive Director.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant work experience preferred. Experience in the field of domestic or sexual violence survivor advocacy or prevention, and/or youth development and education is helpful.
  • A demonstrated ability to facilitate learning opportunities that are properly calibrated for the time, environment, topic and audience.
  • Ability to connect quickly with energy, enthusiasm and warmth to diverse audiences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate in at least Microsoft Suite and WWW.
  • Strong grounding in and commitment to social change advocacy and a feminist framework for understanding gender-based violence. An understanding of public health approaches is helpful.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, required minimum vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to spend periods of time sitting and standing, and to lift 40 pounds.
  • WISE requires all employees to submit criminal background and driver’s license checks, employment is dependent on findings.
  • Successful completion of the WISE Advocate Training Program within 3 months.
Compensation Range and Benefits: The salary for this position is $45,000. Other benefits include four weeks of annual vacation, 100% employee health premium coverage, and 7% employer retirement fund contribution.
