Position Summary
SGM seeks a creative, organized, and mission-driven Communications & Operations Coordinator to lead the organization's digital presence and donor communications and to support board of trustee relations. This part-time position works closely with the Executive Director and plays a central role in how SGM presents itself to the public, donors, and partners. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, digitally fluent, and comfortable working independently in a small nonprofit environment. Residency in the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire or Vermont, in proximity to SGNHP, is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Communications & Content (~40%)
Leads SGM's day-to-day digital presence across social media, email, and web. Develops and schedules content for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn; manages email campaigns through ActiveCampaign; and prepares website updates for implementation by SGM's webmaster. Writes blog posts and stories that draw on SGM's archival collections and program materials. Attends select events at the Park to gather content firsthand, and coordinates with NPS staff to ensure complementary messaging. Monitors and reports on performance metrics across all channels.
Donor & External Communications (~25%)
Serves as a key voice for SGM's donor-facing communications — drafting stewardship messages, year-end appeals, milestone recognitions, and special announcements in close coordination with the Executive Director. Writes and distributes press releases for exhibitions, concerts, and organizational news. Drafts external partner correspondence and public statements for Executive Director and trustee review. Maintains SGM's press contact lists.
Board Relations & Administrative Support (~20%)
Coordinates all aspects of Board and Committee meetings, including scheduling, materials preparation, minutes, and follow-up. Maintains professional relationships with trustees, past trustees, ex-officio members, and community liaisons, and supports the Executive Director in all governance-related communications. Attends in-person Board meetings (June in Cornish, NH; January in New York City) and virtual meetings as scheduled. Supports the annual trustee nominating process.
Marketing & Organizational Support (~15%)
Coordinates with SGM's graphic designer on the production of program brochures, event invitations, impact reports, and donor materials — providing copy, context, and organizational direction. Maintains organized digital files and shared drives. Supervises interns and coordinates their work in support of SGM's communications goals. Supports the Executive Director with special projects as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of experience in communications, marketing, or a related field, preferably in a nonprofit or cultural organization. We are looking for someone who is:

• Digitally fluent, with experience managing websites, email marketing platforms, and social media scheduling tools
• Organized and self-directed, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently
• Collegial and discreet, comfortable working with board members, institutional partners, and the public
• Enthusiastic about the arts, history, and mission-driven work
Experience with ActiveCampaign, Hootsuite, Asana, or comparable platforms is a plus. Board relations or nonprofit administrative experience is welcome. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events is expected.
