Maintenance and Repair Responsibilities:      
• In collaboration with the Buildings & Grounds’ team protect, maintain, and enhance our campus buildings, grounds, water/septic, furniture, fixtures, equipment, vehicles, and supplies in a safe and efficient manner. The duties include but are not limited to:
• Assist Manager of Buildings & Grounds to formalize and deliver a preventive maintenance plan
• Clean the Bancroft Campus Center on a daily basis and other areas as assigned
• Police high traffic areas in other buildings and touch up or clean daily as needed
• Perform additional deep cleaning tasks seasonally including carpet cleaning, waxing or other assignments during school vacations.
• Inspect all exits in all buildings for safe access and egress on a daily basis.
• Plan, schedule, arrange for and assist in the unlocking and locking of all buildings on a daily basis and during off hours and special events
• Inspect playground equipment on a weekly basis
• With School Nurse and Manager of Buildings & Grounds, coordinate fire drills, emergency evacuations, and emergency planning
• Change time on clocks and adjust timers on outdoor lighting and air exchanger in Klee’s lower level upon switching to/from Daylight Savings Time
• Address indoor and outdoor lighting/power outages
• Work with Manager of Buildings and Grounds, Head of School, School Nurse, and others to identify and rectify maintenance/safety/ health issues on campus    
• Service and maintain (may be subcontracted) all elements of the school safety systems, including sprinklers, exit lighting, extinguishers, alarm systems, and smoke detectors
• Assist with general maintenance of campus machinery and equipment including taking proactive, preventive, and seasonal measures to keep it functioning at its optimum
• Light carpentry and small engine repairs, as needed and if capable
• Interior and exterior painting, as needed
• Share responsibility with Manager of Buildings and Grounds for snow plowing and snow removal
• Mow grounds and maintain safe and attractive trails

School Events Responsibilities:
• Assist with setup and takedown for all school and special events including but not limited to: 
• Set up AV equipment/sound system
• Assist with traffic management and parking

 Communication via Technology Responsibilities:
• Respond to email, voicemail, and all mail/messages in a timely fashion.
• Check your staff mailbox and empty daily.
• Read daily news and weekly notes generated by Office Manager.   

Physical Requirements:
• Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in extreme heat, cold, or other inclement weather conditions
• Ability to remain in a stationary position or move about to accomplish tasks for an extended period of time
• Ability to ascend/descend stairs and ladders, position self to work under objects
• Ability to safely operate machinery and power tools

Other Requirements:
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Must pass a state and federal background check

Other Responsibilities:
• Drive school vehicle(s), as needed
• Substitute for Mgr. of Buildings & Grounds during absences as needed
• Assist with assembling and moving furniture, as needed
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
• Wear uniform shirts provided by the school.
• Maintain open two-way radio communication while on campus
• Such other duties as may be assigned to you

Position reports to: Manager of Buildings and Grounds

Hours:
40 hours/week to be arranged with the Manager of Buildings and Grounds; may require occasional after-hours/weekend work upon request and your availability. 

Holidays (paid):
July 4th , Labor Day, Columbus Day; the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, and the Friday thereafter, the day prior to Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day; the day prior to New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day, MLK Day, Memorial Day, and Juneteenth.

Personal days: 2 days per year
Sick time: 8 days/year (for yourself or immediate family member)
Vacation: 12 days per year

Vacation during the school’s calendar year to be scheduled in advance during times of least activity subject to approval of Head of School. (As major cleaning and maintenance tasks often take place during school vacation weeks in December, February, and April, it is unlikely vacation would be granted during these times.)
