Vintage PT-23 warbird expected at PlaneFest! on Saturday, Aug. 17 Day-long event includes free family activities, aircraft displays, more Young people can take to the skies with local pilots on Saturday, Aug. 17 at this year's PlaneFest! celebration. PlaneFest!, a celebration of all things flight-related, is held each August at the Aviation Museum of N.H., 27 Navigator Road, Londonderry. On Saturday, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Aviation Museum will host activities to help young people (and the young at heart) learn about aviation in a welcoming environment adjacent to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport The activities are held outdoors, weather permitting, and are free to all families. Led by Aviation Museum Education Director Nathaniel MacDonald, activities are aimed at young people of elementary and middle school age. During PlaneFest!, the Aviation Museum of N.H. will be open to visitors; regular admission rates apply. On display will be a vintage PT-23 military training plane flown and maintained by the New England Wing of the Commemorative Air Force. PlaneFest! will be highlighted by a 'Young Eagles' program, which gives young people ages 8 to 17 the opportunity to take a free short flight with a local pilot at no cost. The program, organized by EAA Chapter 106, is designed to give young people a taste of aviation and piloting by flying in private planes. Local pilots donate their time and the use of their aircraft.
