Literary Evening

Join Osher at Dartmouth as we celebrate the work of four local authors! The evening will feature live readings by the authors themselves, followed by a reception where you can chat with them and your fellow attendees.

Jon Stableford has been an educator for 43 years, most of that time at Phillips Academy in Andover, MA. Jon and his wife Cindy moved to the Upper Valley as year-round residents in 2010. Transitioning into the role of Study Leader, swapping teenagers for peers in the classroom, Jon has led 30 literature classes for ILEAD/Osher. Over the same period, he has written op-ed pieces for The Valley News, 95 of them so far, and published articles in Northern Woodlands, Vermont Almanac, and Dartmouth Medicine, and a short story in Narrative magazine.

Robin Dellabough is a poet with a journalism master’s degree. Her collection, Double Helix (2022), includes a Pushcart Prize-nominated poem. She has completed a second collection. Recent poems have appeared in Paterson Literary Review, Nixes Mate Review, Gyroscope, Mountain Troubadour, Rat’s Ass Review, Yellow Arrow, Stoneboat, Halfway Down the Stairs, Mom Egg Review, Blue Unicorn, Negative Capability, other publications and several anthologies. She is working on her first novel and participates in three writing circles.

Hilary Llewellyn-Thomas earned her PhD degree at the University of Toronto. A transplanted Canadian, she is a professor emeritus at Dartmouth College’s Geisel School of Medicine. Hilary has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers. Right of Answer is her first novel, the tale of the first known noblewoman to be imprisoned in the Tower of London. When Hilary discovered that Margaret de Badlesmere is her 19th great-grandmother, she felt compelled to create this story.

Pam Ahlen is Special Events coordinator for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Dartmouth. She compiled and edited Osher’s Anthology of Poets and Writers: Celebrating Twenty-Five Years at Dartmouth. Pam received an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts and is the author of the chapbook Gather Every Little Thing (Finishing Line Press) and the co-author of Getting it Down on Paper, Shaping a Friendship (Orchard Street Press). Pam founded the first Osher (then ILEAD) Literary Evening in 2010.
