April 4 – May 10 Opening reception: Friday, April 4, 5-7 pm Clifford B. West and Rebecca Lawrence Gallery Entry: Cynthia Atwood and Mark Lorah | Visceral Resonance E.N. Wennberg Gallery: Heidi Broner | The Daily Elizabeth Rowland Mayor Gallery: Chris Papa | Fallin’ Ditch Cynthia Atwood and Mark Lorah: Cynthia Atwood works in multiple mediums, mainly fiber and textile. The exhibition will include a collection of fiber sculptures that convey humor and corporeal threads. Mark Lorah is both a sculptor and painter evident in his large-scale work we experience with our body. They are highly textured and layered with collaged elements including fabric, glitter, and dried acrylic forms. Heidi Broner grew up working in the granite sheds of central Vermont, coming from a background of working in the granite art industry she has developed a strong interest in studying people at work. Her fascination with the posture portrayed by the worker suggests a less definable and more mythic narrative. Chris Papa creates mixed-media sculptures that explore the relationship between people and the physical environment. Works are assembled through actions related to repair and support, such as patching, bracing, gluing, and propping. Multiple objects are transformed into sculptures, bodily forms laced with awkwardness and humor while possibly underscoring our love-hate relationship with consumerism and stuff– mainly plastics.
