Resident Manager, Maynard House

Maynard House is a nonprofit facility that provides low-cost lodging for patients and their families receiving medical treatment. The Resident Manager role reports directly to the Director of Business Operations and Board of Directors President, and works closely with staff and volunteers to provide home-like accommodations for the guests we serve.
Responsibilities include managing the evening, overnight and weekend logistics of Maynard House. This includes providing guest relations services, weekend cleaning, light office administration, a volunteer management. Compensation for this position is full time residence in an on-site studio apartment (at 17 South Street, Hanover, NH 03755), with no rent or utilities.
Resident Manager shifts consist of nights and weekends on alternating weeks. Weeknight shifts are from 5:30pm-7:30am, including office coverage until 9:00pm. Weekend shifts begin Friday evening at 5:30pm with office/house in-person coverage from 9am-9pm Saturday and Sunday, and emergency coverage as needed. Some scheduling flexibility can be accommodated with advance notice. On-site training will be provided upon hire.

Guest Relations

  • Serves as main point of contact for guests in the evening, overnight and weekends.
  • Welcomes guests to Maynard House and communicates house rules, expectations and policies as necessary.
  • Takes reservation requests, registers guests, and orients guests to the house.
Physical Plant
  • Works to ensure building cleanliness, safety, and upkeep.
  • During weekend/holiday shifts, RM is responsible for daily housekeeping support as needed. Occasional winter responsibilities include clearing walkways and building entrances.
  • Communicates with appropriate staff regarding property issues and necessary repairs.
Volunteer Management
  • Communicates with shift volunteers the expected happenings in the house during their shift, and supports them as necessary.
  • Reinforces Maynard House policies and procedures as needed.
  • Ensures volunteers are familiar with emergency protocols should any arise within the house.
  • Maintains understanding and familiarity with existing house protocols and communicates effectively in the event of an emergency.
  • Occasionally contributes to policy/procedure development, attends staff meeting, and participates in special events at the house.
High School diploma required.  Bachelor’s Degree preferred, preferably in human services related areas of study.
Preference will be given to those with experience in health & human services, property or building management, or volunteer program management.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn guest intake and database management software.
  • Comfort interacting with a variety of guests and flexibility to accommodate a broad range of guest needs.
