The Singer, the Dancer, the Actress, and the Star!

MGM offered “something for everyone” during Hollywood’s Golden Age. We’ll look at four of their biggest stars—Jeanette MacDonald, Eleanor Powell, Norma Shearer, and Joan Crawford. Why did audiences flock to their films? We’ll view some of their best and more interesting roles. Paul was P.R. Director of Jeanette MacDonald’s Fan Club for more than twenty years, and took tap-dancing lessons from the legendary Eleanor Powell. While he never met Norma Shearer, he did visit Joan Crawford at her New York home, where they enjoyed sipping on Coca Cola (not Pepsi, for which Miss Crawford stumped for decades).
