Security, particularly in the Arctic, is complex and includes more than traditional military concerns. This talk will explore some of these different security considerations, how they can intersect, and identify some of the actors that may be involved, using the Canadian North as an example. Dr. Karen Everett is a senior research associate with the Louis-Edmond-Hamelin Chair, affiliated with the University of the Arctic, at Université Laval (Canada) and a Fulbright Arctic Initiative Scholar (2024-2026). Previously, Karen was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Université Laval, a Research Scholar with the Arctic Futures Initiative at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA, Austria), and she completed her PhD at the Frost Centre for Canadian Studies and Indigenous Studies at Trent University (Canada).
