DESCRIPTION:Upper Valley Music Center welcomes Cuban-American cellist Tommy Mesa for a special event blending education and performance. The recipient of the Sphinx Organization's 2023 Medal of Excellence\, Mesa has appeared as soloist at the Supreme Court of the United States and with major orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl\, The Cleveland Orchestra\, The Philadelphia Orchestra\, and the symphony orchestras of Indianapolis\, Madison\, New Jersey\, San Antonio\, and Santa Barbara\, among others. \n\nThe event will begin with a masterclass featuring UVMC cello students performing and Mesa coaching students on interpretation and technique. Mesa will present a short concert\, and then sit down for a conversation about his multifaceted career as a performer\, recording artist\, and educator. \n\n\n\nThis event is presented as part of Upper Valley Music Center's 30th anniversary celebration\, and offered with flexible admission pricing so that all students and community members have the opportunity to observe instruction from a master teacher and performer.
