Dr. G. Christian Jernstedt\, Professor Emeritus of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Dartmouth\, will offer a foundational lecture on Artificial Intelligence as an introduction to the 2026 Osher at Dartmouth Summer Lecture Series\, which runs from July 8 through August 12.
\n\nWhether you&rsquo\;re planning on attending the Summer Lecture Series or not\, this lecture will provide a down-to-earth discussion of what AI is and is not. \;As Dr. Jernstedt stated\, &ldquo\;We&rsquo\;ll look behind the headlines\, starting with the physically nearby origins of &lsquo\;AI.&rsquo\; We&rsquo\;ll encounter extraordinary things AI can do today and uncover where dangers are hidden. \;The core ideas that will be discussed will prepare us to more fully understand the sessions of the Summer Lecture Series\, which will address the question\, "\;How is Artificial Intelligence Transforming America?&rdquo\;
\n\nChris Jernstedt has been involved with AI since he was an undergraduate in electronic and computer engineering at Carnegie Mellon. \;He has lectured around the world on the core neuroscience that undergirds modern AI applications. \;His two recent lectures on AI at Kendal at Hanover were very well received. \;One Kendal resident remarked that it was the best lecture he had ever attended\, on any topic.
